Angus Baills to make Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship debut
Angus Baills will make his Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship debut on home turf at Queensland Raceway on August 14-16.
Adding to the healthy Spectrum ranks, Baills began his career in 2024 racing the Queensland-run Excel Cup before spreading out to the Australian Production Cars and TGRA Scholarship Series.
Baills has made the shift to open-wheel competition in 2026 by sampling both AU4 and state Formula Ford competition, but is eager to enter the highly-competitive Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship ranks.
Not only will Baills contest the Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship, but he will also share duties with Anthony Levitt in the Game Over Australian Endurance Championship driving a Ginetta G56 V8.
“I’m excited to get back in a tin-top and I’ve missed them quite a lot,” said Baills.
“It’ll be good to balance both of them and I’ll be really tired across the weekend with more than six hours of track action between the two categories..
“It’s going to be a bit of a step into the unknown having not raced at this level before and now knowing where our car is at compared to everyone else, but I’m excited to see what we can do.
“I’d like to put up a fight with some of the guys up the front and hopefully we can get a good result. My Spectrum had a full rebuild a couple of weeks ago, so it should be quick and all I have to do is drive well to get a good lap time out of it.”
The Fight in the Night is the marquee event on the Game Over Australian Endurance Championship schedule and Baills is keen to make his mark in the race.
“I wouldn’t have even guessed that I’d be doing this last year, so I’m really grateful to have the opportunity to jump in the Ginetta with Tony,” Baills said.
“Queensland Raceway is my home track and I’ve probably done more than 1000 laps, so I know my way around there. I just need to learn the Ginetta.”
Both the Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship and the Game Over Australian Endurance Championship will compete at the AASA Race Series Fight in the Night event at Queensland Raceway on August 14-16.
