Spectacular Fight in the Night just around the corner

‍‍Entries have flooded in for this weekend’s the Fight in the Night Powered by Enthusiast Motor Insurance at Queensland Raceway, the fourth round of the newly renamed AASA Race Series contains six categories.

The event QR takes place from August 14-16, running the traditional three-day format, it consists of five regular championships as well as an additional category, something a little different on the AASA Race Series bill.

Round 4, as the name suggests, features night racing. The event’s headline act is the three-hour long Game Over Australian Endurance Championship race, the ‘Fight in the Night,’ which takes place from 18:05-21:05 on Saturday.

‍The Fight in the Night is a big race in the AEC calendar, and unsurprisingly it has attracted the biggest entry list of the season to date, with 23 cars entered.

Notable names include Fabian Coulthard, Grand Denyer, Tony Quinn and Tom Hayman. However, for the first time this season, formidable competitors Lindsay Kearns and Brad Carr will line-up on the grid.

Aside from the Game Over Australian Endurance Championship, the other drawcard is of course the TA2 Muscle Car Series. As always, the V8 machines qualifying twice and race four times, with two taking place on Saturday and two on Sunday.

Alice Buckley returns to the track where she took multiple race wins alongside Tim Slade just a couple of months ago as part of the Tag Team Enduro weekend, she will be looking to take back the title lead from Tyler Cheney.

Touring Car Masters Champion Joel Heinrich and Super2 Series front-runner Ben Gomersall will also be up the pointy end.

The other regular categories are the Yokohama AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship, Australian Innovation Race Cars, and the TFH Hire Legend Cars Australia.

The Yokohama AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship has also attracted its biggest entry list of the season, with three brand new names. Queenslanders Lochlan Shearsmith and Angus Ballis are also joined by New Zealander Maxim Kirwan.

One notable absentee is Jamie Rowe who has suffered an injury between events and has been forced to sit on the sidelines for this round.

The future stars of the sport in Formula Ford will run a qualifying session and two races on both Saturday and Sunday.

Round 4 of the ultra-fast Australian Innovation Race Series also acts as the opening round of the Sprint Championship. From now on it is all about short-sharp races in IRC.

The pint-sized machines, the TFH Hire Legend Cars Australia Series will be sure to deliver plenty of action across the course of the weekend with six races, including two on Friday.

Paul ‘The Dude’ Morris, 2014 Bathurst Champion will make his debut in the series at QR, his son Nash made an impression on his debut at the AASA Short Track Nationals.

Additionally, for something a little bit different, the AASA Race Series will be joined by the Queensland Porsche Club on Saturday and Sunday. On both days they will have no less than six on track regularity sessions, these events are all about being as consistent as possible.

It is not too late to see all the action trackside; a weekend pass is just $55. A Sunday ticket is $35, and a Saturday ticket just $25. Kids can get in for free.

A general admission pass will get you access to not only the paddock. but all other off-track areas including the live entertainment.

Off track there will be a live DJ set, kids jumping castle and an opportunity to meet the drivers.

Fans can also get up close to the action by taking part in the grid walks or by parking their car trackside, with the park n’ view option.

At the conclusion of the three-hour Fight in the Night enduro there will be a spectacular fireworks display to close out proceedings on Saturday night.

The event will be livestreamed on Saturday from 1.25pm- 9.30pm AEDT, with Sunday being streamed from 9.30am-4.30pm AEDT.

There will also be two preview shows, one on Friday from 4pm-5pm and on Saturday from 10am-11am.

As well as supporting the event, Enthusiast Motor Insurance will have a car show and on-track cruise session on Saturday.

The enthusiast event costs $20 per vehicle, which gets the car not only into the venue but also on track.

Cruise laps take place from 5:40pm, with passengers welcome up to the vehicle’s legal seating capacity for no extra cost.

Before and after the on-track session, they will be running a classic Enthusiast Sessions Show & Shine.
